Diljit Dosanjh has faced criticism after sharing the trailer of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir’s film ‘SardaarJi 3.’ The film will only be released overseas on June 27th; it will not be screened in India. The film is being held back from being released in India due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgaon terror attack.
Diljit shared the release date of Sardaar Ji 3 on Instagram on Sunday by sharing the trailer. In the caption, he wrote, “Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.”
The trailer for SardaarJi 3 on YouTube is geo-blocked in India, with a message saying, “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.” However, the teaser and songs of the film are available. Hania Aamir was not seen in the teaser of the film, but the Pakistani actress was part of the trailer. The film also stars Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Jasmin Bajwa, and Sapna Pabbi.
The movie franchise started with Sardar in 2015 and became a hit quickly. After the release of ‘Sardaar Ji 2’ in 2016, the sequel returned after a gap of eight years. The earlier two installments were directed by Rohit Jugraj Chauhan.
Directed by Amar Hundal, Sardaar Ji 3 follows Dosanjh’s character, a ghost hunter called in to deal with a haunting spirit in a mansion in the UK. The trailer features action, horror, and comedy, with both Hania and Neeru playing love interests for Dosanjh’s character. Sardarji 3 is jointly produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu of White Hill Studios in association with Story Time Productions.
Sardaar Ji 3 was mired in controversy over the casting. After the Pahalgaon terror attack, tensions flared between India and Pakistan, with a ban on Pakistani artists working in India.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to reject the film’s certification, as the film’s cast members also included Pakistani actors Hania Aamir, Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela.
Hania Amir’s Instagram account was also banned in India after the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025. The actress was criticized for her anti-India comments after Operation Sindoor.
