Bollywood music composer Sachin Sanghvi, who is part of the famous duo Sachin–Jigar, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 29-year-old singer. The woman filed a complaint saying that Sachin promised to help her get work in his music album and later took advantage of her. After the complaint was made, the police arrested him but released him on bail a short time later. The case is still under investigation, and both sides are waiting for the next legal steps.
According to the complaint, Sachin first contacted the woman on social media in February 2024 after hearing her songs. He told her that he liked her voice and wanted to feature her in one of his upcoming projects. The two began meeting often, and during this time, Sachin allegedly told her that he was having problems with his marriage and wanted to divorce his wife. He is said to have expressed love for her and started a physical relationship under the promise of marriage and career opportunities.
The woman also told the police that they travelled together to several places, including London and Budapest, earlier this year. Later, she found out that she was pregnant. When she informed Sachin, she claimed he threatened to release her private photos and videos if she didn’t end the pregnancy. She said she felt pressured into having an abortion and that after this, he began to avoid her completely and even blocked her number. That was when she decided to file a complaint with the police.
Based on her complaint, the Santacruz police registered a case against Sachin Sanghvi under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, India’s new criminal law. These sections include offences related to deceitful sexual relations, assault, and causing miscarriage without consent. The police then arrested the composer, but the court granted him bail the same day. The case is now being reviewed by the authorities.
Sachin Sanghvi’s lawyer, Aditya Mithe, has strongly denied all the accusations. He said that the claims in the FIR are false and that there is no real evidence against his client. He also said that the arrest was not done properly, which is why Sanghvi was released on bail so quickly. The lawyer added that they will fully defend themselves in court. As of now, the investigation continues, and no final statement has been made by the police or the court.
