Farhan Akhtar made a lot of buzz in 2021 when he announced Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif. Fans were excited to see the three actresses together in a road-trip story about friendship and self-discovery. But since then, the film has faced many delays, leading to rumours that it was cancelled.
In a recent interview, Farhan finally gave some clarity. He said the film is not shelved but has been put on the “back burner” for now. He explained that the script is too good to drop, and a lot of work has already been done on it, including location scouting and even recording music. The only problem is getting everything aligned to actually start filming.
Farhan also hinted that the original star cast might no longer remain the same. With the busy schedules of Priyanka, Alia, and Katrina, bringing them together has been difficult. Alia herself had earlier admitted that managing everyone’s dates was a big challenge. So while the film will happen, fans may see a different cast when it finally goes on floors.
The project was special because Farhan had announced it on the 20th anniversary of his directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai. It was meant to mark his return to directing after many years. But since Jee Le Zaraa kept getting delayed, Farhan has moved ahead with other films. In 2023, he announced Don 3 with Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani, which is already in progress.
Right now, Farhan is preparing for the release of 120 Bahadur, a war drama based on the Battle of Rezang La in 1962. The film stars Raashii Khanna, Vivian Bhatena, and Eijaz Khan, and will hit theatres on November 21. So while fans may have to wait longer for Jee Le Zaraa, Farhan has assured that the film will definitely happen—just not immediately.
