The teaser for Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Samuthirakani, has been released, and it’s already making waves online. The teaser came out on July 28, which also happens to be Dulquer’s birthday. The film is set in the 1950s in Madras and has a very old-school charm. Dulquer plays a popular actor, while Samuthirakani plays his father, who is also a well-known film director. Their relationship in the film seems intense and full of emotional tension.
In the teaser, we see Samuthirakani’s character, known as Ayya, starting work on a horror film called Saantha. He wants his son to be the lead actor, but things start to go wrong between them. Even though Dulquer’s character shows respect for his father, Ayya doesn’t seem to feel the same way. At one point, the father loses control and physically lashes out at his son. The situation gets worse when Ayya casts the female lead, played by Bhagyashri Borse, as both the hero and heroine.
Feeling hurt and angry, Dulquer’s character decides to take charge. He tells the studio that the film will no longer be called Saantha but Kaantha. This move clearly shows that the father-son conflict is not just personal but also creative. The teaser ends on a high note, hinting at a big clash between the two characters. Viewers online have called the teaser gripping, emotional, and very promising.
The film is directed by Selvaraj Selvamani and is backed by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. Along with Dulquer and Samuthirakani, the film also stars Bhagyashri Borse and Rana Daggubati. The story deals with themes like ego, love, and the struggles of artists trying to find their place. The cinematography by Dani Sanchez Lopez and music by Jhanu Chanthar add a rich and dramatic feel to the film.
Kaantha will hit theatres on 12 September 2025 in Tamil and Telugu. With its strong storyline, powerful performances, and striking visuals, the film has already caught the attention of fans. Many are excited to see Dulquer in such an intense role, and the teaser has only raised expectations. It looks like Kaantha is going to be one of the big releases to watch out for this year.
