Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, who became a household name after the Drishyam movies, has returned with a new thriller titled Mirage. The film was released in theatres on September 19 and is now getting ready for its digital premiere. Starring Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles, Mirage received mixed reviews from audiences and critics, but many praised its suspenseful story and performances.
The makers have confirmed that Mirage will start streaming on SonyLIV from October 20. The announcement was made through a new trailer shared by the platform. SonyLIV wrote on social media, “Every story hides a secret. This one hides many.” The film will be available in seven Indian languages — Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali — allowing viewers across the country to enjoy it in their preferred language.
Mirage follows the story of an investigative reporter named Ashwin Kumar, played by Asif Ali, who becomes involved in a mysterious case. Aparna Balamurali plays Abhirami, the fiancée of a man named Kiran, whose past seems to hide dark secrets. As the story unfolds, the film explores themes of truth, deception, and how people are often not who they appear to be. The trailer hints at a tense and emotional journey filled with twists.
The film was co-written by Jeethu Joseph and Srinivasan Abrol, based on a story by Aparna R Tarakad. It was produced by Naad Studios and E4 Experiments, along with Seven 1 Seven Productions and Bedtime Stories. The supporting cast includes Hakim Shahjahan, Hannah Reji Koshy, Saravanan, Sampath Raj, and Deepak Parambol, all of whom bring depth to the film’s complex world.
Jeethu Joseph, known for blending emotion with mystery, has several big projects lined up next. He is currently working on Ram: Part 1 with Mohanlal and on Drishyam 3, which will also be made in Hindi with Ajay Devgn in the lead. He is also directing Valathu Vashathe Kallan, starring Biju Menon and Joju George. With Mirage now reaching digital audiences, fans of the director’s thrillers have another mystery to look forward to this October.
